Arch of Saint Bonosio and Maximiano
The arch beneath the holy statues dates back to the 15th century and marks the era during which Carrer Ample street was decorated with a multitude of arches. This area is also known as Les Voltes.
Font Gòtica
A classic example of the non-sacred civil Gothic of the 15th century.
What stands out are the extravagant decoration on the top of it, its delicate gables and its six gargoyles with human and animal faces. Due to the fountain’s octagonal base it is believed to have originally stood in the middle of a square. A few years ago it was due to be repositioned in order to make its more eye-catching with its prestige. However, in order to avoid damage to the fountain, this idea was scrapped.
Casa Orench
Casa Orench, house number 34, is characteristic of the style of architect Francesc Folguera. Built in 1926.
Plaça de la Verge Maria
In what used to be the fish market, this cute little square is perfect for enjoying a quiet drink on the cafe terrace beneath the arches. The cafe’s premises, just like the entire square, were once a place of business for the fish trade.
Statue El Frare (The Monk)
On a circular base on the promenade near the harbour, on the beach Playa de Blanes stands the statue of a monk, surrounded by palm trees. It was built in 1958 in memory of Blanes-born author Joaquim Ruyra (1858-1939).
Nostra Senyora de l'Esperança Chapel
This little chapel is situated just in front the harbour at the end of Doctor Roig i Raventós street and is visible from the promenade. Nobody knows when exactly it was built. Earliest records date back in the 17th century. The facade is decorated with symbols of the sea and inside there are also sea-related religious offerings in the form of miniature ships.
