The main town beach

Most of the coastal area of La Pineda is known as Playa La Pineda and measures approx. 2000 m. It is not easy to tell exactly where one beach starts and the other finishes (see: Playa del Racó) as they form one long beach.

The esplanade is the same, the only difference being that in some parts the coast road moves away from Playa La Pineda a little. In these areas there are apartment blocks that are right on the seafront. The park “Pinar del Perruquet” is an open space between the beach and the residential area.

Public parking, bus stops and taxi ranks are just a short walk away. We can regularly find beach bars, as well as sun shades and loungers to rent. Towards the north there are volleyball courts and along the esplanade there are more restaurants and bars.

The water quality has been awarded with the blue flag for cleanliness. To the north of Playa La Pineda the seabed slopes more sharply than the rest of the beach. In some places the sand is a little coarser. The beach widens out to a maximum of 70 m. Very often, the northern part of Playa La Pineda is not as highly visited as the rest.

Note: One man’s sorrow is another man’s joy! At the northernmost point of Playa La Pineda, behind a breakwater, is where the port of Tarragona starts. Lovers of big ships will be in the right place there. Others should opt for a spot further down the beach towards the south.

Facilities / services: parking spaces, Red Cross, showers, toilets, litter bins, beach cleaned daily

How to get to Playa La Pineda: When you arrive in La Pineda you will find numerous ways to access the beach, given that the coastal area is longer than the town itself. Simply walk towards the sea and follow the signs if necessary.

By car: Drive as far as the coast road Passeig de Pau Casals. Once there, you have already reached the seafront.

Where to park:
5.) Passeig de Pau Casals, next to the square Plaça Manuel de Falla
6.) C./ de Victoria del Angels, at the northern end of the beach
7.) C./ d‘Amadeu Vives, further towards the town centre, near the town sports facilities
