Cable car station at the World Trade Center, Barcelona

Barcelona has two cable cars from which you can enjoy spectacular views of the city.
Cable cars from la Barceloneta to Montjuïc. This cable car was built in 1929 in Barcelona for a world exhibition.  The cable car starts from the summit of the Barceloneta peninsula, where it leaves from a 78 metre high tower, known as Torre Sant Sebastià (just taking the lift costs €4). First, it stops off halfway at the tower Jaume I, which is found right in the World Trade Center, in the old port Port Vell, and it carries on to Montjuïc mountain, passing by the Miramar esplanade. The journey takes about five minutes and the cabins can hold up to nineteen people. You can get in or out at the three stations. The best part of the journey is when it passes over the water and the port Port Vell. Once you arrive at Montjuïc, a twenty minute walk leads you to the cable car by which you can travel to Montjuïc castle.

Barcelona cable car on Montjuïc
To catch the cable car to Montjuïc castle, first you have to catch the funicular railway from the metro station Paral•lel to the station Parc de Montjuïc. The cable car starts its journey just next to it; it has several cabins from which you can see the sights with a capacity of eight people each. There is a stop at the station al Mirador in the middle of the journey on the way to Montjuïc castle. Here you can find the Comic and Illustration Museum and the Military Museum. The Montjuïc cable car was reopened following general reconstruction in 2007.
