Most of the restaurants in Empuriabrava are located in the harbour area and in the Zona los Arcos in the centre of Empuriabrava, close to the Muga River. There are lots of pleasant restaurants offering traditional and modern cuisine. Tapas bars, fish and seafood restaurants, restaurants with traditional Catalan food, as well as restaurants with international cuisine ... there’s something for every taste. Many restaurants have terraces directly on Empuriabrava’s canals – highly recommended! If you prefer dining with a mediaeval backdrop, go to Castelló d'Empúries where you’ll also find lots of restaurants.
Close to Empuriabrava on the way to Roses, there’s even a highly recommended restaurant with one Michelin star - See also Restaurants in Roses.
If you’d like to try Empuriabrava and regional specialities, aside from the fish and seafood, look for these on the menu: Ànec de Cortal (duck), Foie (goose liver pate) and the sweets Bruels, Aiguamoixos, Delícies de Trobadors and Rocs de Castelló. Other specialities of the Empordá region are its Mar i Montaña (sea and mountains) dishes, which combine fish and seafood with meats such as game, duck and goose. There are also major food events in Castelló d'Empuries: the Jornades Gastronômiques de Primavera and the Cocina Medieval.
Jornades Gastronômiques de Primavera
At this event, which usually takes place in May, two typical ingredients of many Empuriabrava dishes are celebrated: Ànec de Cortal (duck) and goose liver. Many restaurants and hotels focus their menus on these ingredients during that month.
Cocina Medieval: In mid-September at the mediaeval Festival Tierra de Trobadors you can try many of the mediaeval dishes from the region. For details, see Festivals in Empuriabrava
