- Beach volleyball and beautiful people -
The 400 metre long beach Playa Nova Icaria is the most visited beach north of the Olympic Port. The number of tourists on this beach is one of the highest in Barcelona and the motto here is “see and be seen”. Many arrive at the beach via the excellent cycle path which runs directly alongside the beach. Beach volleyball players come to Playa Nova Icaria entirely at their own expense: A large group of players gathers next to the port all year round, where they set up their own nets. A ping-pong table, showers, lifeguard stations and toilets are all available at Nova Icaria beach.
Restaurants and beach bars at Nova Icaria beach:
There are three beach bars or ‘chiringuitos’ (from south to north): The Dockers (house+pop), El Bierzo (mainly reggae and raggamuffin), Inercia (house+pop) and directly opposite on the promenade there are 2 restaurants: Monchos with no-frills home-made fish dishes and Mango, a typical restaurant with medium to low quality food with lots of colourful photos, which attract foreigners from far away to a frozen paella. A more suitable place to go for a drink than to eat at Nova Icaria beach.
