Ermita Santa Cristina
The Ermita de Santa Cristina Pilgrimage Chruch is located around 3.5 km away from Lloret de Mar, above the beach of the same name, Playa Santa Cristina. First records of the pilgrimage church date back to the year 1376. Its current, classic construction style dates back to the late 18th century. Inside the chapel is a magnificent, marble, high altar, which was hewn in Italy, and a collection of votive gifts and miniature ships. Highly recommended is the view behind the Ermita de Santa Cristina. The square behind the chapel offers a wonderful view out onto the Playa de Cristina and the smaller, neighbouring Cala Treumal beach.
Over the course of time religious people obtained relics of the holy Santa Cristina: the skull, a rib and a thigh bone. During a riot in 1936, the first year of the Spanish Civil War, two of the relics were lost. The remaining relic plays a central role at the annual boat procession in honour of the holy Santa Cristina.
During July and August the pilgrimage church is open from Monday to Friday. Guided tours usually take place from 5pm to 7pm.
