Beaches Barcelona
Barcelona has to be the city in Europe with the most beautiful beaches – most of Barcelona’s existing beaches were expanded or new ones were created during the renovation of the cityscape for the 1992 Olympics.
All of Barcelona’s beaches, whether the popular beaches by the old fishermen’s quarter Barceloneta, e.g. Barceloneta beach, or those by the new district Diagonal Mar, are very clean and offer you the possibility to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and to get a taste of a holiday environment.
Those who are looking for nudist beaches in Barcelona, have two at their fingertips in the city itself: the beach Playa Mar Bella, meeting point of the gay community, and the nudist beach Sant Sebastia in Barceloneta. The beaches in Barcelona can all be conveniently accessed by Metro or other public transport and offer a wide range of beach bars or ‘chiringuitos’, where you can sip mojitos, caipirinhas and other cocktails until well after sunset.
Beaches from north to south:
Playa Llevant beach: the northernmost beach in Barcelona, Playa de Llevant, in front of futuristic high-rise buildings
Nova Mar Bella: next to last beach, a bit barren ambience
Playa Mar Bella Barcelona - nudist beach partially hidden by a dune, meeting point for the gay community
Playa de Bogatell - long beach with mixed audience
Nova Icaria - beach located just beside the Olympic harbour, young and beautiful people, perfect for beach volleyball players
Barceloneta beach - very popular beach with a wide range of restaurants directly on the beach
Sant Sebastià beach - nudist beach at southern end of Barceloneta peninsula, meeting point for surfers
